About Season-AlesBot
Season-AlesBot is the crawler for Season-Ales, a search engine for seasonal beer. It visits brewery websites to find out which seasonal beers exist, then links people back to the brewery.
What it collects
Factual product details only:
- Beer name and brewery
- Style, ABV and IBU
- Which season the beer is released in
- The page address, so we can link back to you
We do not republish brewery marketing copy. Descriptions on Season-Ales are written from the factual details above. Product images are displayed from their original location and are attributed to the brewery.
How it behaves
- Obeys robots.txt, checked before queueing a page and again before fetching it
- Obeys noindex directives in meta tags and X-Robots-Tag headers
- Obeys Crawl-delay, and Retry-After when you ask it to back off
- Requests no more than 500 pages per site per day, spaced several seconds apart
- Discovers pages through your XML sitemap rather than by following every link
- Identifies itself in every request and never attempts to bypass any access control
How to block it
Add this to your robots.txt and the crawler will stop on its next visit:
User-agent: Season-AlesBot
Disallow: /
You can also email us and we will remove your site immediately, with no need to change anything on your end: alex@newjerseycreative.com
The same address works for corrections. If we have a beer wrong, tell us and we will fix it.
